Wolkenkijker captures the endless sky in a frame for your windowsill.
Wolkenkijker (Cloud Viewer) frames what is always above us: the clouds. In an age where everything that deserves attention is given a frame, this object elevates the everyday into something worth exhibiting. The infinity of the sky is reduced to the intimacy of a picture frame – something small you can cherish and place on your windowsill. Inspired by Anish Kapoor’s Sky Mirror and the waist-level viewfinders of analog cameras, Wolkenkijker offers a second-degree way of observing: why do we insist on viewing everything through a frame, when sometimes we could simply look up?
